Sharesymposium: Leave No One Behind

Leave no one behind.
Don¿t leave anyone behind you. This is a fundamental principle included in the implementation of UN¿s Global Goals and Agenda 2030. It means that all humans everywhere should be able to take part of the progresses of development. That is a principle that ShareMusic constantly works for - towards a stage of equal opportunities.

But what does a stage of equal opportunities mean practically?
- For arts organisations and institutions?
- For educators - from public arts schools to higher artistic education?
- For practitioners?
- For CEO:s and decision-makers?

The starting point before lunch is our #sharemusiclab and you will take part of the processes, results and effects of the work. After lunch, there will be several activities to choose from - seminars, conversations and a practical insight into the #sharemusiclab.

In June 2019, two labs were conducted. At Västerås Concert Hall, musicians from the Västerås Sinfonietta, ShareMusic¿s dance ensemble and music ensemble, and a dancer from Candoco Dance Company (London), explored co-production in an intimate collaboration beyond the borders of the arts. The work was led by Charlotte Darbyshire, choreographer and artistic co-director at Candoco Dance Company, and Jonas Jonasson, composer and musician from Swedish rock band bob hund. At Spira Culture Centre in Jönköping, the whole Jönköping¿s Sinfonietta and musicians from ShareMusic met in a four day long lab led by composer and human rights activist Nigel Osborne. The focus of this lab was various inclusive work methods and in smaller groups, the musicians created music pieces together.

We are proud to once again be able to present interesting Swedish and international guests like Deborah Kelleher of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, composer Nigel Osborne, professor Sofia Kjellström of Jönköping Academy, professor Frank Lyons of Ulster University, Erik Fägerborn, director and writer, and Petra Frank, head of the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg. We will also have participants from the labs with us and we dare to promise intriguing discussions. More participants will be announced.
