The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing arts will investigate the extent of sexual harassment

News: Nov 15, 2017

Recent media reports show that efforts made so far have not been enough. Now we start a job to see what action we need at the Faculty to break the silence culture and prevent harassment.

In the past few weeks, a flood of testimony about sexual harassment has appeared in the media. The abuse that #metoo, #tystnad/tagning and #vi sjunger ut reveal, has not been unknown before, neither in film and performing arts nor in our education, but the extent is shocking.

The efforts we have made for many years to address the problems, in the form of norm-critical courses, efforts in enhancing gender equality and work environment, have not been enough. We will now analyze the situation within the faculty, we will try to map out the extent of harassment and abuse, and, above all, investigate what measures we need to take, both to break the culture of silence and to prevent harassment as such.
