BA Individual Performance

The BA Programme in Music with the individual performance specialization is a unique programme in which different genres meet under the same roof and which combines great individual freedom with collective opportunities.

The programme is taught in Swedish.

Professional areas

The programme is intended to offer preparation for a future career as a creative musical artist, for instance as a musician, sound artist, composer – whatever specialization students may have.
In addition the programme is to provide students with the tools needed to enable communication with cultural circles in the surrounding community, knowledge about prevailing conditions in the free-lance sector and contacts in this network.
The programme can also provide a basis for further study at Master’s level.

Major subject (90 higher education credits)
The major subject is artistic development in the student’s own main field and offers a great deal of individual influence on the contents of the teaching and direction it takes.
Seminars, discussions and workshop sessions with the rest of the class are important elements in the course.
Another important aspect is the joint production of concerts in which different student profiles are presented.

Degree project (15 higher education credits)
The degree project is integrated with the major subject. Solo instrument tuition is offered both individually and in groups.

Basic course in music (90 higher education credits)
The basic course in music includes theory, student projects, supervision by personal mentors, creation of the students’ own portfolios with documentation as well as future professional roles and their settings.
