    Scholarships during your studies at the Academy of Music and Drama

    The following scholarships are available to you as a student at the Academy of Music and Drama (HSM). The scholarships are sorted in alphabetical order.

    The Adlerbertska foundations and Hospitie–Scholarship

    Artistens vänner

    • Qualified: All students at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Appointed by the scholarship board of the academy, cannot be applied for
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 5,000 SEK

    The Birgitta Cleve and Einar Björkander Scholarship

    • Qualified: Students from the classical music and opera programmes at  HSM
    • Application period: February
    • Application: Through HSM
    • Amount: 1–3 scholarships of 20,000 – 50,000 SEK

    The Björn J:son Lindh Memorial Fund

    • Qualified: A genre-crossing instrumentalist and composer living and working in Sweden, max. 35 years
    • Application period: May–June
    • Application: Through the Björn J:son Lindh Memorial Fund
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 25,000 SEK (for all of Sweden)

    The Bror Hjorth Society Folk Music Scholarship

    • Qualified: Folk musicians
    • Application period: January
    • Application: Through the Bror Hjorth Society
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 25,000 SEK (for all of Sweden)

    The Carl Larsson scholarship fund at the University of Gothenburg

    • Qualified: All students at HSM
    • Appointed by the scholarship board of the academy, cannot be applied for
    • Amount: 2 scholarships of 47,300 SEK

    The Norwegian Society Dovre

    • Qualified: Norwegian citizens studying within the music field at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: August–September
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 10,000 SEK

    The Erik Grudd foundation

    • Qualified: Musicians under 15 years from Mora
    • Application period: February
    • Application: Throught the Erik Grudd foundation
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 25,000 SEK (for all of Sweden)

    The Gustaf Tobison Family Foundation

    • Qualified: Final year students at the programmes for opera, musical theatre and acting at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: February–March
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 4 scholarships of 10,000 SEK

    The Fredrika Bremer Federation Scholarship Foundation / The Aurora Lillieros scholarship for female singers

    • Qualified: Female singers
    • Application period: September–oktober
    • Application: Through the Fredrika Bremer Federation Scholarship Foundation

    The Greta and Johan Kock music scholarship

    • Qualified: Music students from Trelleborg
    • Application period: January
    • Application: Through your programme supervisor at HSM
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 10,000 SEK (for all of Sweden)

    The John Andersson in Anderslöv family foundation

    • Qualified: Musicians and singers within the classical music and  folk music fields
    • Application period: February
    • Application: Through the John Andersson in Anderslöv family foundation
    • Amount: 4 scholarships totaling 440,000 SEK (for all of Sweden)

    Gothenburg Freemasons Acting Scholarship

    • Qualified: Acting students in the third year of the BA programme at HSM
    • Application period: March
    • Application: Through HSM
    • Amount: 4–6 scholarships totaling 80,000 SEK

    Gothenburg Freemasons Music and Song Scholarships

    • Qualified: Music students in the third year of a BA programme or in an MA programme at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: January
    • Application: Through the Frimurare Barnhus-Direktionen
    • Amount: 10 scholarships of 25,000 SEK

    The Ingrid and Erland Glimstedt fund

    • Qualified: Students with a major in classical piano or opera
    • Application period: August
    • Application: Through HSM
    • Amount: 50,000 SEK in total

    Kalmar North Rotary Club

    • Qualified: Music students from Kalmar
    • Application period: January
    • Application: Through Kalmar North Rotary Club
    • Amount: 1 scholarship of 15,000 SEK

    KMA's national scholarships

    • Qualified: Students in the field of music at the Academy of Music and Drama or other music universities
    • Application period: April–May
    • Application: Apply directly to The Royal Swedish Academy of Music
    • Amount: Varies

    • Qualified: Students in the field of music at the Academy of Music and Drama or other music universities
    • Application period: September–October
    • Application: Apply directly to The Royal Swedish Academy of Music
    • Amount: 48 scholarships of 7,500–20,000 SEK

    The Otto and Charlotte Mannheimer Foundation scholarships

    • Qualified: All students at HSM who meet HSM's assessment criteria
    • Application period: October–November
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 5 scholarships of 10,000 SEK

    SEB's music scholarship

    • Qualified to apply: Opera or musical students at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: Februari
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 30,000 SEK

    Stellan, Sten and Märta Hähnels music scholarship

    • Qualified to apply: Music students at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: September
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 25,000 SEK

    Stellan, Sten and Märta Hähnels scholarship for acting students

    • Qualified to apply: Acting students at the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Application period: September
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 10,000–15,000 SEK

    The Bertha Neubergh foundation for artistic educations

    • Qualified to apply: 2 scholarships: One for music students and one for performing arts, where acting, opera and musical take turns to receive the grant.
    • Application period: February
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: approx. 15,000 SEK

    The Holger Gustafsson foundation

    • Qualified to apply: All students at the Academy of Music and Drama with stringed (bow) instruments, primarily for those in their third year (BA) or second (MA)
    • Application period: Spring
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 15,000–20,000 SEK

    The Lars and Yvonne Gurmund foundation

    • Qualified to apply: Two scholarships: One for music students and one for performing arts, where acting, opera and musical take turns to receive the grant.
    • Application period: February
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: approx. 15,000 SEK

    The foundation to the memory of Robert Möller

    • Qualified to apply: Students in violin with classical repertoire, at the Academy of Music and Drama third year on BA programmes or second on BA programmes
    • Application period: Spring
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 15,000–20,000 SEK

    The Sons of Vänersborg Guild

    • Qualified to apply: Students at the Academy of Music and Drama with trumpet or organ as their main instrument
    • Application period: September
    • Application: Through the Academy of Music and Drama
    • Amount: 10,000 SEK
