The aim of our internationalization

is to take advantage of the potential and needs of each individual student. The very large number of applications for places each year from exchange and guest students suggests that we are successful.
The Academy of Music and Drama makes active use of bilateral exchange agreements with many corresponding institutions in Europe and enjoys very good cooperation with them, which facilitates the exchange of both students and staff.

During my time at the Academy of Music and Drama I got very important impulses for my musical life.
The structure of the course is different than in Germany, maybe freer, but in some ways complementary.
I felt very welcome by the students and teachers. My special thanks go to all organ teachers at the academy who are great artists but also warm-hearted people!”
Statement by former exchange student at the Academy

Swedish students look after international students very well and they are rapidly assimilated into the student body at the Academy. The large numbers of ensembles that have formed spontaneously at the beginning of the autumn term provide evidence of this.

From an international point of view the Master´s Programme in Orchestra Performance is a very special programme that attracts many students from abroad. Not only students on the Academy’s regular programmes but also exchange and guest students are invited to participate in projects at this programme.

Visiting guest teachers give the Academy high grades both for its teaching and for the practical service offered in the form of information and planning, travel arrangements, accommodation, induction, etc.
The Academy is a unique department at the University of Gothenburg in terms of the numbers of its staff who travel abroad as guest teachers. They act as excellent ambassadors for the Academy and attract applications from many students, both to regular programmes or to study as guest or exchange students.
The attainments of the Academy’s outgoing guest students are evaluated generously by our administrators and teachers.
