The Library for Music and Drama in the Artisten building

The Library of Music and Drama, a part of the University Library, supports the activities of the Academy of Music and Drama. It is also open to students and staff from the rest of the University as well as members of the general public.

The library is situated by the entrance in Artisten.

The Library's Collections

The Library's collections consist of printed music, CDs, books on music and theatre, videos and periodicals, as well as a large collection of play scripts. The library regularly receives scripts from all productions at the Gothenburg City Theatre, the Folk Theatre of Göteborg and the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. Encyclopedias and dictionaries are available in the library as well as bibliographies of music composed for different instruments and ensembles.

In addition you will find information about music courses, music competitions and music festivals as well as the seasonal programmes for Swedish orchestras, opera houses and theatres. 

Electronic resources

The library provides access to important electronic resources in the field of music and drama, such as databases and electronic journals. It is possible to access the e-resources from home by entering the number of your library card (username) and your social security number (password). For University students and staff the GU card works as the library card.

Other Resources

The library has several study places with internet-connected computers, listening stations, a group room and a room with a digital piano. There is a copy-printer.

Friday: 8.30 - 16.00
