Interview with alumni Alexander Hambleton 

French horn player Alex Hambleton studied at the Academy of Music and Drama 2011–2013. Now he has earned himself a permanent position at the Göteborg Opera. Read the interview with Alex.

Independent course as a preparation

You can apply for an independent course of 30 higher education credits (MVK960 and contiuation course MVK961), provided in collaboration with the orchestra master's programme.

The course admits new students twice a year. Next admission round is in the spring 2018 for study start autumn 2018.

Please note that the courses above require work samples. In order for your application to be complete, you must submit your material no later than the last application date for the course on www.universityadmissions.se. Work samples are sent to the academy's web system for digital work samples called DAP. Only work samples submitted to this web system are accepted.

Piano within the Master's programme in orchestra playing

This part of the programme focuses on the pianist's role as a musical partner, accompanist and coach.
At the Academy of Music and Drama, a wealth of opportunities exist for working practically with instrumentalists from the programme for classical musicians and with singers from the programmes for opera and musical theatre.
There is also the opportunity of collaborating as an orchestral pianist with the orchestra belonging to the orchestra master's programme.
The practical side of the programme will be filled out by courses in playing from a score, transposing and sight-reading as well as studies of music theory.
