Application period

The application period for autumn term 2018 will be from 1 December 2017 until 15 January 2018. Apply via www.universityadmissions.se.

Requirements, Selection and Application Process (valid for 2018)

Entrance Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in the fine or applied arts, a professional qualification of at least 180 higher education credits, at least three years of approved full-time studies in a programme for musicians or equivalent and special requirements that comprise musical skills. Students may be admitted to the programme without having basic eligibility in the form of a degree.

Selection of eligible applicants is based upon assessments of submitted portfolios and proposals. All applicants are requested to send in:

  1. Proposal for an independent masters project, 4000–5000 characters long, is required, including title of project, problem statement, method for artistic and/or scientific development/research, and references to related projects.
  2. A live recorded video presentation of your music and yourself as a musician. NB! The video should contain 15–20 minutes of music.

The proposal and portfolio must be sent in via Slideroom. Name your files with your name, personal number/social security number and which programme you are applying to.

For the purpose of handling and reviewing work samples, we use an external service provided by SlideRoom Technologies Inc. By using the service, you agree that the University of Gothenburg may handle your personal data and material submitted via SlideRoom in order to evaluate your application for education. The material you upload remains with SlideRoom until you choose to remove it from their servers.
Here you can register to SlideRoom and upload your work samples.

If you have questions concerning the use of the service, please contact us. The University of Gothenburg may, by individual agreement with the applicant and in a way that the university decides, offer an alternative opportunity to submit work samples.

After reading and listening to the material you have submitted, we invite a limited amount of selected applicants to come to Gothenburg for an interview, or to participate in an interview via telephone or other digital medium. This interview is mandatory for all selected applicants. The selected applicants will receive notice via e-mail approximately 3 weeks before the interview, which will be conducted on Wednesday the 28th of February, 2018.

The results will be made public in the second week of April 2018 on www.universityadmissions.se.
