This information concerns applications to the Bachelor's Programme in Music, with a specialization in Classical Performance.

Entrance requirements

Qualified for the BA programme in music with a classical performance specialization are those who have basic qualifications, with the exception of Swedish language.
In addition, there is an entrance test on which selection is based.


Application deadline for the autumn semester of 2016 was 15 January.
Auditions take place in week 9 (29 February - 4 March).

Entrance Test (valid for 2016)

Audition, main instrument

Round 1
In the audition, the applicant is expected to be prepared to perform four compositions of their own choice. The compositions should be of different style and from different epochs.
In the test, candidates will be asked to play 1-2 compositions of their own choice, and if the jury so desires, 1-2 of the remaining compositions, according to the jury's choice at the occasion of the test. In addition, a compulsory piece may be required. This piece will be send out together with the invitation.

Round 2
Complementary auditions performed on the main instrument. Only for candidates called for further examination. Round 2 takes place after all the invited applicants have finished Round 1. It may take place the same day or 1-3 days later, depending on the number of applicants.

Dates and times for step 2 will be announced in the schedule sent out along with the invitation.

In addition, in some cases the test could consists of the following elements:
- An assignement from the sheet without preparation time (a sight-reading test), possibly together with one or more musicians.
- Performing a simple, short piece selected by the jury after 10-15 minutes of preparation; possibly in ensemble.

Music Theory Test (MT)
Those who continue to Round 2 will also take a written test in ear training and theory. There they will:
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of music theory
- Demonstrate basic ear skills: transcribing music by ear
- Demonstrate basic skills in texture: harmonic analysis and voice leading

Invitation to Entrance Test
Notice will be sent by e-mail aproximately 3 weeks before the entrance test.

Test Results
You will be informed regarding your test results in early April.
